What Are CDFIs? 2018-04-30T10:41:03+00:00

A CDFI, or Community Development Financial Institution, is an organization focused on economic growth and local revitalization through the use of educational programs and financial services. The specialties of each institution are different, but their missions must be community-driven. Each certified CDFI is a member of the CDFI Fund and receives support from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

VEDC has been a member of the CDFI Fund for over ten years, and our mission focuses on job creation and retention through small business growth. By providing high-quality loans and free educational assistance to low- and -moderate-income entrepreneurs in our service areas, we help employ thousands of people, strengthening the economy and assisting future leaders of industry. We’re proud to be a CDFI and non-profit organization supporting businesses for over 40 years.
