Learn the Risks Before They Happen

As part of its commitment to small business advocacy, Travelers developed the Small Business Risk Education program to help women and minority small business owners learn about risk management, develop safety risk management plans, and qualify for microloans.

Through in-person training experiences, one-on-one consulting and access to small business loans, the Travelers Small Business Risk Education program is setting a new standard for high-quality small business education.

Phase 1: Insurance and Risk Management Workshop

Travelers’ Risk Control professionals provide free training sessions for small business owners to help them understand basic safety risk management concepts.

Phase 2: One-On-One Consulting

Business owners who attend a workshop move on to develop a safety-related risk management plan in a personalized, one-on-one consultation with Travelers’ Risk Control professionals.  Participants are asked to present completed risk plans within a six-week time frame.

Phase 3: Microloans – Access to Capital

Businesses that complete a risk management plan are eligible to apply for a microloan, funded and administered by VEDC, which would provide funds to support implementation of the risk management plan.

Elizabeth and Madeline Figueroa

Special Client Testimonial

“The Travelers program helped in identifying the risks with not having the right coverage for a disaster. We had some challenges when we first opened. We don’t have a crystal ball, but we do have self-confidence in knowing and believing in your product. We’ve implemented lots of safety nets to help prevent any next catastrophe.”

-Elizabeth Figueroa, Owner and Founder of Elizabeth J. Figueroa & Company
