Gardena, CA—  Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson) has selected Darrow’s New Orleans Grill in Carson as the 64th Assembly District Small Business of the Year. The local restaurant will join 80 other California small businesses during a recognition ceremony hosted by the California Small Business Association on May 25, 2016 in Sacramento.

“I am privileged to honor Darrow’s New Orleans Grill, a restaurant that embodies everything positive and traditional about our community,” said Gipson. “Darrow’s has prided itself on family values through service and excellent customer care, and I am proud that they are here in our district.”

In 1994, “Uncle Darrow’s” opened locations in Los Angeles, Marina Del Rey and now Carson under the proprietorship of Norwood J. Clark Jr., Ronald Washington, Ronald Smith and Samuel Small, Jr.  Uncle Darrow’s has been recognized by several organizations for their business acumen including J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Known for its New Orleans-style po-boys and authentic New Orleans fare, the Cajun and Creole restaurant continues a tradition of high quality and excellent customer service. Their catering department has served every type of event from movie sets to elegant affairs.

In 2005, after losing two relatives to Hurricane Katrina, the Uncle Darrow’s team led by Norwood Clark delivered 90 tons of food to the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. Clark also founded the non-profit Reunite America to further aid victims of the disaster. The team also held fundraisers for those affected by 9/11, Tsunami, prostate cancer and many more.

Darrow’s New Orleans Grill is located at 21720 Avalon Blvd. in Carson, and proudly serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The addition of a Rum Bar and large screen TVs have made it a hot gathering spot for locals and sports enthusiasts.
