Spoonfed New York Country Group offers Southern comfort cuisine in the heart of Manhattan’s Theater District. Growing up, William “Randy” Stricklin-Witherspoon always had an affinity for cooking southern and country style meals. In 2008, Randy turned this passion into a business. He began delivering individual meal requests to customers throughout the theater district and providing catering services to Broadway shows. As their popularity grew, Randy and his partner, Mark Stricklin-Witherspoon, began catering to a variety of non-Broadway events. They are now ready to launch a full-service restaurant specializing in “Southern Fusion” style cuisine, which will be located at 331 W 51st, New York, NY 10019.
Spoonfed received a loan of $600,000 for lease-hold improvements, equipment, and will be providing 20 jobs, through the National African American Small Business Loan Fund. Spoonfed plans to open its restaurant in September 2016.
The National African American Small Business Loan Fund was established through a partnership between VEDC and JPMorgan Chase & Co., which provides economic opportunity for minority-owned businesses in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
